Alison heads up Newington’s Education, Health and Social Care practice where she advises and supports a wide range of clients across these sectors as they seek to inform and influence political decision makers. She has more than 12 years’ experience in public affairs, having worked for two FTSE 100 companies as well as two leading trade bodies.

Prior to joining Newington, Alison was Senior Public Affairs Adviser for Sainsbury’s, with responsibility for managing their public affairs activity in Scotland and Wales, as well as key policy areas in Westminster such as employment issues, business rates reform, alcohol regulation and community activity. She has also worked for M&S, the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), and spent more than six years at the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Her in-house experience, alongside her trade body knowledge means she is used to working across a diverse policy landscape, and has an acute understanding of the role public affairs can play in helping businesses achieve their commercial objectives.
