Carl is a political practitioner with a record of successful campaigning. He was behind a campaign to persuade the Government to introduce a 90% local residents discount when the Dartford Crossing Tolls were last increased. He has extensive experience in local government - holding many senior positions as a Labour councillor in Thurrock and working with local businesses and the voluntary sector to establish the Thurrock Community Chest, a local charity which supports many good causes. Carl also worked for five years with the Labour Party as a Regional Organiser where he had additional responsibilities for print and training. He previously worked as Chief of Staff for Andrew Mackinlay MP, and has managed many local and several general election campaigns. Carl was Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate in Thurrock in the 2010 General Election.
