Dr Gordon McGlone OBE

Associate, Environment

Gordon has spent more than 40 years working across the environmental sector, most notably as the Chief Executive of one of the country’s leading nature conservation charities, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, where he served for three decades. For eight years, he served as the Chair of Lantra – the sector skills council for environmental and land-based industries – during which time he successfully steered it through two government relicensing processes, the latter involving ministerial sign off for each of the four nations.

Alongside this work, Gordon led the creation over a two year period of the Wildlife Trust’s UK Development Strategy – securing partnerships with 47 charities in the process – and he continues to be a Trustee of Bee Guardian Foundation. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management’s Training, Education and Careers Development Committee. Gordon was appointed OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2006 for Services to Conservation.
