Newington CEO named second most influential person in political comms

Mark Glover, the founder and Chief Executive of Newington Communications, has been named the second most influential person in politics by leading industry publication PR Week.

Glover, who is also chairman of the Association of Professional Political Consultants (APPC) is featured in the 2017 PR Week Power Book of the industry’s most influential figures. He came second behind Katie Perrior, the Prime Minister’s Spokeswoman and Director of Communications at 10 Downing Street.

Commenting on his achievements, PR Week wrote: “During an eventful 2016, Glover's public and corporate affairs consultancy, Bellenden, rebranded as Newington Communications and moved to a new London HQ. Glover, who founded Bellenden in 2006 and has spent decades in politics and public affairs, saw his influence grow further when he was appointed chairman of APPC last year.”

Glover added: “I’m delighted to be named by PR Week as the second most influential person in political communications, alongside some of the leading lights in the industry. I’d like to thank the Newington team, our clients, and my fellow colleagues on the APPC Management Committee for all their support over the years. This promises to be another strong year for Newington as we continue to grow our public and corporate affairs business at home and into Europe following our successful partnership with Italy’s biggest PR firm, SEC.”
