We pride ourselves on having the best people. That’s why we make sure all of our consultants get the support, training and opportunities that make them a success. Don’t just take our word for it, let them tell you themselves…

Career case studies

Patrick Traynor, Senior Account Manager

How did you come to work at Newington?

I was an intern at a Public Affairs Consultancy in Brussels when I was made aware of the opening for role of Account Executive at Newington. I applied and had an in-person interview in Brussels followed by a phone interview, and within 2 weeks I was back in London!

What do you most enjoy about working at Newington?

Most of all I enjoy the great variety of work we get to do here – we work with many different clients all operating in different areas, and no two days are the same. I also enjoy working with my colleagues here – this is a young company and aside from being a great place to work it is also a great place to be social and meet some fantastic new people.

Who is the most interesting client you have worked with and why?

The Crisis Prevention Institute. CPI is the world’s largest trainer of health, social care and education professionals who look after people whose behaviours may present a risk to themselves or others, and their work interests me greatly.  In particular, it was exciting to work with CPI on their campaign to improve training standards in mental health units, which culminated with the successful passage of the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act in 2018.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Outside of work I’m sports-obsessed. I enjoy playing football, and I also play cricket with the Newington cricket team.

Julia Raew, Personal Assistant and Office Administrator

How did you come to work at Newington?

Before I worked at Newington I worked for 10 years at a training provider, and towards the end of that time I felt that I wanted a change and a new challenge. I heard about the job opening for a PA role at Newington through a friend, and found myself here soon after!

What do you most enjoy about working at Newington?

In terms of the company, I love the people. Everyone is so kind, intelligent, and grateful. In terms of the job itself, it would have to be the organisational tasks (I love organising) and just how diverse the role is – every day really is completely different. I also love how I am always learning, even if it’s only small things.

What is the most rewarding project you have worked on during your time at Newington?

The most rewarding project I have done was actually one of the first ones I took on at Newington, about 2 weeks after I joined. I planned a trip for 4 of our employees on team Local to attend MIPIM – a 4-day real estate exhibition, conference and networking event gathering 24000 international property professionals – in Cannes, France. I organised 250 meetings to take place over the course of 4 days – a huge logistical task. The fact that I was new to the role made it all the more rewarding when it all came together so successfully.

What interests do you have outside of work?

Throughout school I was a ballroom dancer, and will always have a soft spot for dancing. I still take classes twice a week at a studio near the office. More recently, I have been doing a Bookkeeping course and passed my first exam in June. I also love traveling with my family, even if it’s just a weekend trip to the coast.
