Newington announces London event series

Newington will be hosting a series of events with London’s council leaders and policy experts ahead of next year’s local council elections.

The local elections in May 2018 will redraw the political map of London. To track the latest news and analysis, Newington has launched a dedicated elections website Election2018.London.

To provide our clients with the an opportunity to pose their questions to London’s leaders, we are hosting a series of events. Confirmed speakers include: John Healey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Housing; Cllr Georgia Gould, Leader of the London Borough of Camden; Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Borough Council; and Mayor Philip Glanville, Directly Elected Mayor of Hackney.

The first event in the series was kicked off by James Murray, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development in London, who covered:

  • What is the impact of the new affordable housing and viability Special Planning Guidance, and how will it affect development in the capital;
  • How achievable is the London Living Rent;
  • Is the private rented sector getting the assistance it requires; and
  • What is needed to maintain development in London before and after Brexit.
