Newington scoops six nominations at Public Affairs awards

Newington is delighted to be a finalist in six categories at the prestigious Public Affairs Awards, taking place tomorrow, including consultancy of the year.

Mark Glover, Chief Executive and founder of Newington, said: “These six nominations demonstrate the breadth of our team’s expertise across the full range of public affairs disciplines, including political and community engagement, and campaigning, for a diverse mix of clients.

“Having started the company ten years ago with just two consultants in South London, the business has grown to more than 45 consultants based across London, Chelmsford, Manchester, and with offices in Wales and Scotland. We’re particularly proud that we’ve been shortlisted for awards in Wales and Scotland this year.

“It’s says a lot about the consistently high levels of service we deliver to clients that we’ve been finalists fifteen times over the last four years. I’d like to thank all our clients for the continued trust they place in us.”

As well as consultancy of the year, the fast-growing public and corporate affairs agency has been nominated in the following awards categories:

  • Planning Campaign of the Year for Newington’s community and political engagement work on a major expansion of teaching and sporting facilities at Chesham Prep School;
  • Consultancy Campaign of the Year for its support to the Independent Renewable Energy Generators Group (IREGG) – a coalition of eight companies – in making the case to Government for onshore wind;
  • Chris White, Associate Director, is nominated for consultant of the year. The former special adviser to three Conservative Cabinet Ministers is credited with setting up a new public affairs team, specialising in supporting clients in highly regulated environments, from financial services to transport regulation. Among his clients are: the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, Octopus Investments and the Rail Delivery Group.
  • Best Campaign in Scotland for Newington’s political engagement programme for the Horticultural Trades Association;
  • Best Campaign in Wales for its public affairs support to the Rail Delivery Group.

The Public Affairs Awards 2016 take place in London tomorrow.

In September Newington Communications relaunched as part of a major rebrand of Bellenden to mark its tenth anniversary year, which saw it move to bigger premises, and Italy’s biggest PR firm, SEC Group announced it was taking a 60% stake in the business, enabling Newington to expand its client offer across Europe.

Earlier this year the consultancy was named among the top five UK Public Affairs Agencies in the 2016 PR Week Top 150 and won PR Consultancy of the Year at the 2016 Renewable Energy Awards. Internationally, last year saw the consultancy win again at the prestigious EMEA SABRE Awards.
