Newington unveils expanded senior team

Newington unveils expanded senior team

Newington Communications is gearing up for growth, announcing a slew of promotions and new hires.

Current Managing Director Naomi Harris is promoted to Chief Operating Officer, taking greater responsibility for the company’s day to day operations, while Chris White and Muniya Barua become Managing Directors of the Public Affairs and Corporate Affairs divisions respectively. Both previously held director-level roles at the agency.

Tom Flynn joins as Director of Digital, specialising in digital strategy, targeted social media advertising and web development. Before joining Newington, Tom ran major digital campaigns including for leading UK politicians at the 2015 and 2017 General Elections, and for the Labour Party during the 2016 EU referendum campaign. Tom is joined by Account Director Valeria Orezzi supporting on design and content creation.

Meanwhile, Alison Clews joins from Sainsbury’s to lead Newington’s Education, Health and Social Care practice, providing maternity cover for Account Director Antonia Norman. Clews brings a wealth of public policy expertise and experience of working in Westminster and Whitehall, as well as with devolved governments.

This follows a wave of senior hires at associate director-level, including Christine Quigley and Will McMyn to lead teams covering transport and infrastructure and energy and environment.  Stuart Gardner will head up a new team covering financial, legal and professional services.

Commenting on the news, CEO Mark Glover said:  “Our recent new hires give us our strongest Senior Management Team ever, and alongside the launch of our new digital offer as well as a growing network of global agencies in the SEC Group, Newington is well placed for the next stage of our growth strategy.”

Glover will focus on providing senior counsel and driving the strategic growth of Newington and its 300+ consultant parent company SEC Group, of which he is a Managing Director.

Phil Briscoe will continue to lead the company’s growing Local division, with growth expected across all five of its teams, and will work with Glover on the company’s strategic direction. Greg Rosen remains Company Secretary, providing senior counsel.
