We were appointed by Canary Wharf Group and Qatari Diar (Braeburn Estates) to provide political intelligence and manage the community engagement for one of London’s landmark developments, the Shell Centre in Lambeth.
Situated on the River Thames and in the middle of a number of heritage viewing corridors, over a period of four years, we worked with local communities, heritage stakeholders and employment groups to deliver a successful planning decision on the main site and the offsite affordable housing in Kennington.
We delivered a targeted engagement programme ensuring that the local community, political and heritage stakeholders, and key local employment groups were engaged and involved in the project to secure a positive decision at Planning Committee, and we continued to provide support when the application was challenged at appeal and was subject to a judicial review.
Our engagement with communities and stakeholders led to positive relationships, including around the site now under construction. It established local advocates who are raising the profile of Braeburn Estates, whilst also supporting the South London Procurement Network, which has delivered over £10 million of investment locally.
